Social Justice Vol. 15, No. 1 (1988)
Notice to Our Readers
We are pleased to announce that after 15 years of publishing Crime and Social Justice, we are changing our name to Social Justice: A Journal of Crime, Conflict, and World Order. This symbolic decision reflects both a confirmation of a shift in focus that began several years ago and an expression of our newly expanded Editorial Board. You also may have noted another long-overdue change, one more practical than symbolic: beginning with this issue, we are numbering the journal by volume. We are being joined by our colleagues at Global Options -- Barbara Bishop, Susanne Jonas, Elizabeth Martinez, Ed McCaughan, and Nancy Stein -- who for several years have been on the Editorial Board of the journal Contemporary Marxism. For financial reasons this important journal on controversial international issues is no longer able to continue. It is our good fortune, however, that they have agreed to join Social Justice. Their participation will strengthen our efforts to address important global issues, such as human rights, peaceful resolution of interstate conflicts, sovereignty and self-determination, and crimes against humanity. Our commitment to theoretical and policy issues relating to crime and criminal justice remains. We will continue to focus on the kinds of issues that have characterized the journal over the last few years -- "Human Rights and Justice Under Siege" (No. 25); "Canada and the U.S.: Criminal Justice Connections" (No. 26); "Contragate and Counterterrorism" (Nos. 27-28); "Justice: Comparative and Theoretical Issues" (No. 29); and "Latin American Perspectives on Crime and Social Justice" (No. 30). For the rest of 1988, we are planning special issues on "The Cold War Against Cuba," "Crime and the Informal Economy," and "Human Rights and the Rights of People." We very much appreciate your support of and interest in this journal. We hope that these changes will add new vitality to our work and that Social Justice will continue to address the critical issues of our times. Citation: Editors. (1988). "Notice to Our Readers."
